Rockband and Guitar Hero set the stage, now DubWars is set to turn the rhythm based world on its ear.
Rockband and Guitar Hero weren’t the first music/rhythm inspired video games on the market. Heck, they weren’t even the first guitar-based games on the market (we were playing Guitar Freaks in 1999). What they did was establish an entire market based entirely around rhythm-based experiences. DubWars not only turns that entire system on it’s end but brings dubstep fans with a reason to celebrate.
Based on the game mechanics of a classic arcade top-down shooter, DubWars takes away a degree of control and syncs your shooting with the movement of the music. Instead of forcing you to tap buttons in a certain rhythm, the music track triggers an ammunition payout from your weapon. It’s your job to stay alive and use the beats of the music to destroy your enemies.
Using the sounds of a number of up-and-coming dubstep producers like NGTMRE, OMNI, Minecraft Universe, Dubsective and others, the music is transformed into a weapon as your avatar fires in sync to the rhythm of the song.
DubWars is available now on Steam and ++Good Games has been tapped to bring this game to other platforms, events, and to create unique partnerships that help expand the DubWars IP.
